Terry Phillips retired from USDOL Mine Safety and Health Administration in January 2025 with 27 years of service. He retired as a GS-14 Supervisor over the Mining Technology Department at MSHA's National Mine Health & Safety Academy. He held that position for 9 years. Prior to that he held the positions with MSHA as a M/NM Inspector, Coal Inspector, Field Office Supervisor, Health Supervisor and Mine Academy Instructor. Before MSHA , Phillips worked in the coal industry as an Assistant Mining Engineer, underground miner, surface miner, underground Construction Foreman, Section Foreman, and Mine Foreman. He has a MS in Mine Safety and a BS in Mining Engineering Technology. He is also a proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
